FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) — Forest products company Weyerhaeuser Co. said Friday it is considering options for its commercial construction sales business, including a possible sale.
Weyerhaeuser said it will review strategic alternatives for the unit, which, aside from a sale, could include keeping the unit. No timetable was set for the completion of the review.
''The decision to proceed with a strategic alternatives review is driven by our desire and need to focus on our core strategies in the residential structural frame market,'' Lee Alford, senior vice president of residential wood products, said in a statement. ''Our goal during this review is to ensure that the commercial business is optimized for long-term growth.''
The business includes three manufacturing plants and 13 design and sales offices.
