China's third-largest carrier agreed to buy 30 single-aisle 737s from Boeing Co. for about $1.94 billion.

SHANGHAI (AP) — China Eastern Airlines, China's third-largest carrier, said Wednesday it has agreed to buy 30 single-aisle 737s from Boeing Co. for about $1.94 billion.

The Shanghai-based carrier said the order value was based on catalog prices dating back to July 2005.

Chicago-based Boeing, which builds its commercial jets in the Seattle area, has not yet reported the order and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

China Eastern said it is scheduled to take delivery of the new planes between July 2011 and November 2015.
