Anheuser-Busch Wholesaler Shipments Up 2 Percent

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Anheuser-Busch Cos. shipped 2 percent more beer to wholesalers in 2007 than in 2006, the St. Louis-based company said Monday.
 
Shipments to wholesalers increased 2.1 million barrels to 104.4 million barrels, said August A. Busch IV, president and chief executive officer. He credited the ''success of our initiatives to broaden the company's beer portfolio, including the addition of InBev European brands.''
 
Wholesaler sales to retailers grew 1.3 percent in the year and in the fourth quarter. U.S. beer shipments to wholesalers increased 3.4 percent in the fourth quarter, which had one more selling day than the fourth quarter of 2006.
 
Anheuser-Busch is the largest U.S. brewery and makes the top-selling full-calorie beer, Budweiser, and the biggest selling light beer, Bud Light.
