CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) — A food manufacturer packaging company has purchased the former Iceland USA seafood plant in Cambridge.
FoodSwing, based in Northumberland, Pa., puchased the plant Dec. 31. Icelandic executives would not disclose the selling price.
FoodSwing provides manufacturing and packaging for private-label foods. Customers include Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Safeway.
The Icelandic plant closed last year, idling 422 workers. FoodSwing expects to employ about three dozen people as it moves in and renovates the building. The plant could be in operation by the summer.
