Rohm And Haas Raising Product Prices In Asia

Chemicals maker said it will raise prices for several packaging and building materials products sold in the Asian-Pacific region due to a slew of higher costs.

NEW YORK (AP) — Chemicals maker Rohm and Haas Co. said Friday it will raise prices for several packaging and building materials products sold in the Asian-Pacific region by 5 to 10 percent, due to a slew of higher costs.

The increases — across the adhesives, plastic additives, textiles, non-woven, graphic arts, paper and leather industries — are effective Jan. 1 or according to certain contracts' terms.

The Philadelphia-based company said all tin-based heat stabilizer prices will increase by 10 percent, and prices for products including acrylics, styrenics, polyurethanes and polyesters will increase 5 to 10 percent.

The company attributed the cost hikes to a tightening feedstock supply, rising feedstock costs, and the continued rise of energy and freight costs.
