AK Steel Adding Surcharge To Electrical Steel

Steel maker said the surcharge amount accounts for the reported prices for raw materials and energy used to make its electrical steel products.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) -- AK Steel Holding Corp. said Wednesday it will add a $940 per ton surcharge to its electrical steel products starting next month.

The steel maker said the surcharge amount accounts for the reported prices for raw materials and energy used to make the products, with August's purchase cost determining the October surcharges.

Shares of AK Steel slipped $2.52, or 5.3 percent, to $45.39 in afternoon trading.
