American Superconductor Licenses Designs To AAER

Energy technology company signs two contracts to license wind turbine technology to Canadian manufacturer.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Energy technology company American Superconductor Corp. said Wednesday it has signed two contracts to license wind turbine technology to Canadian wind turbine manufacturer AAER Inc.
 
The license will allow AAER to manufacture, sell and commission American Superconductor's turbines in Canada, the United States, Mexico, France and the United Kingdom.
 
American Superconductor said it will receive a multimillion-dollar initial fee for the licenses and royalties for every turbine commissioned by AAER. American Superconductor also will sell electrical components to AAER that are required to manufacture the turbines.
