July Manufacturing Technology Consumption Down

The $271.37 million total was down 22 percent from June and down 9.5 percent from July 2006.

MCLEAN, Va. — July U.S. manufacturing technology consumption reached $271.37 million, according to the Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (AMTDA).
 
The total was down 22 percent from June and down 9.5 percent from July 2006. The year-to-date total was $2,254.79 million was up 5.3 percent over 2006.
 
By region, at $35.21 million, consumption in the Northeast was down 48.3 percent from June and down 17.9 percent from July 2006. The $366.72 million year-to-date total was up 15.2 percent from 2006.
 
In the South, consumption was down 9.2 percent from June to $43.7 million. The total was 19.7 percent higher than July 2006. Year-to-date total of $303.03 million is 4.2 percent higher than 2006.
 
At $86.97 million, the Midwest saw a 12.5 percent decrease from June and a 25.6 percent decrease from July 2006. The year-to-date total of $646.03 million is 4.3 percent lower than 2006.
 
The Central Region’s $69.96 million was down 9.7 percent from June and down 0.2 percent from July 2006. At $601.66 million, the year-to-date total was up 11.8 percent.
 
And in the West, consumption totaled $35.53 million, down 35.4 percent from June, but up 5.5 percent over July 2006. The $337.35 million year-to-date total is 6.1 percent higher than 2006.
