FLSmidth To Acquire Groupe Laperrière's Global Minerals Business For $950 Million

Acquisition will allow FLSmidth to develop its minerals business under the new name FLSmidth Minerals.

FLSmidth, a Danish company, announced Friday its acquisition of the Process Division of Groupe Laperrière & Verreault Inc. (GL&V), a Canadian provider of separation technology for the metal and minerals industries, for $950 million.

GL&V Process has approximately 1,000 employees and is comprised of the Dorr-Oliver Eimco and Krebs International companies.

FLSmidth's acquisition will allow the company to develop its global growth strategy in the minerals market. The company, which now sells its minerals under the name FFE Minerals, will market its minerals business as FLSmidth Minerals when the acquisition is completed.

The combination of FFE Minerals, a leader in pyro technologies and in crushing and grinding of minerals, with GL&V Process, who's specality is the downstream separation processes, will create a company capable of one complete process technology from the extraction of minerals to the end product.
