Donaldson To Acquire Aerospace Filtration Systems

AFS had annual sales of $18 million in 2006.

Donaldson Co., Inc. announced Thursday its acquisition of Aerospace Filtration Systems, Inc. ("AFS"), from Westar Aerospace and Defense Group, Inc.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AFS, headquartered in St. Charles, Mo., manufactures air filters for commercial and military aircraft and had annual sales of about $18 million in 2006.

According to Lowell Schwab, Donaldson's senior vice president, Engine Systems and Parts, the acquisitiion will compliment the company's existing aerospace filtration business.

Donaldson and AFS worked jointly over the last year to apply Donaldson's media technology to AFS's military and commercial aircraft systems, said Schwab.

Donaldson, based in Minneapolis, Minn., produces air and liquid filtration systems and replacement parts and has 12,000 employees in over 100 locations worldwide.

Westar is a wholly owned subsidiary of UK-based QinetiQ, an international defense and security technology company with nearly 2,500 employees in the U.S.
