General Dynamics Completes Buy Of Chamberlain Manufacturing

Deal expands presence in large-caliber ammunition manufacturing.

General Dynamics said Friday it completed its acquisition of the Scranton, Pa., division of Chamberlain Manufacturing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elmhurst, Ill.-based Duchossois Industries Inc.

Plans for the acquisition were announced May 17, and terms were not disclosed.

The organization, which will be known as General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems-Scranton Operations, has about 400 employees and is a supplier of large-caliber projectile metal parts to the U.S. government, including forged bodies for 105mm artillery, 120mm mortars and 155mm artillery ammunition.

St. Petersburg, Fla.-based General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a manufacturer of large- and medium-caliber direct- and indirect-fire munitions, bomb bodies and Ball Powder propellant, as well as precision metal components, shaped-charge warheads and control actuator systems.

General Dynamics said the acquisition will allow it to expand its capabilities in large-caliber ammunition manufacturing, a core focus area.
