Packaging company Sonoco said Thursday that it signed an agreement to purchase Illinois-based Clear Pack Co., a privately held vertically integrated manufacturer of thermoformed and extruded plastic materials and containers.
Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006, were not disclosed.
Clear Pack has annual sales of $45 million and has a 240,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Franklin Park, Ill., for commercial roll stock and thermoformed products production. It produces plastic containers for consumer product and food service companies, including packaging for single-serve condiments and fresh produce.
Sonoco is a manufacturer of industrial and consumer packaging products and provider of packaging services, with 300 operations in 35 countries and $3.5 billion in annual sales.
