Dell Completes Buyout Of Wyse Technology

Dell Inc. has closed on its buyout of Wyse Technology, one of a series of cloud computing deals it has made this spring.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) — Dell Inc. has closed on its buyout of Wyse Technology, one of a series of cloud computing deals it has made this spring.

The computer maker did not say how much it paid for Wyse.

Dell said the acquisition would expand its capabilities for virtual desktops and provide new vehicles for some of its products. The company also announced deals for software companies Clerity Solutions and Make Technologies Inc. in April.

Cloud computing is meant to save money and space by letting businesses keep their technology in data centers outside of their workplaces. Workers can retrieve computer programs and documents from any device that's connected to the Internet.

Wyse is based in San Jose, Calif., and Dell is based in Round Rock, Texas.
