Food Safety Management Certification

FSSC 22000 is a complete certification scheme for food safety management systems. It was initially based on ISO 22000, the global food safety management system standard, ISO 22003 and PAS 220, a standard developed to address prerequisite program requirements for food product and ingredient manufacturers.

FSSC 22000 is a complete certification scheme for food safety management systems. It was initially based on ISO 22000, the global food safety management system standard, ISO 22003 and PAS 220, a standard developed to address prerequisite program requirements for food product and ingredient manufacturers. However, the scope of the scheme has been extended to also address prerequisite program requirements for food safety in packaging through PAS 223. The certification is fully recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and is supported by the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the European Union (CIAA). Certification is applicable to processing or manufacturing organizations throughout the food supply chain, regardless of size or complexity, including:

• Perishable animal products
• Perishable vegetal products
• Products with long shelf life at ambient temperature
• (Bio)chemical manufacturing
• Food packaging manufacturing
