The rate of adult obesity has remained steady over the past several years, but 13 states showed adult obesity rates topping over 30 percent of the population, according to an annual study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Kelly Brownell, a Duke University public policy expert, said,
"A plateau is better than rising numbers. But it's discouraging because we're plateauing at a very high number."
