Rohde & Schwarz today announced an effort to strengthen its position in the growing space market by acquiring Neosat and Phytronic.
Neosat and Phytronic combine highly specialized, complementary capabilities for the next generation of secure aerospace communications systems, according to the company.
Neosat was founded in 2018 at Bundeswehr University Munich. The company develops concepts for multi-antenna satellite systems, satellite-based IoT connectivity and communications payloads.
Phytronic was founded in 2023 and specializes in waveform design for space and avionics communications systems. The company also develops tailored solutions to meet the specific requirements of secure communications in aerospace, space and terrestrial sensing.
The acquisitions will help Rohde & Schwarz bundle two components of communications technology: hardware design for satellite payload and ground infrastructure on the one hand, and waveform development for aerospace systems on the other. Both fields contribute to sovereign communications in space, which the company expects to significantly strengthen and expand its vertical integration as well as its ability to compete and grow in the SATCOM market.
