NestlΓ© announced Thursday that it will spend $150 million to expand its operations in upstate South Carolina.

The Swiss food giant's U.S. division said that the project would, in part, add a new production line for single-serve frozen meals at the Gaffney plant. It will also bolster the plant's automation and digital technology capabilities.

β€œThis investment further solidifies our dedication to the Gaffney community, where NestlΓ© has been an integral part for nearly 45 years. It also reflects our continued commitment to enhance our U.S. manufacturing footprint and in-house capabilities," Nicole Caldwell, factory manager at the Gaffney plant, said in the announcement. "These enhancements will enable us to meet the consumer demand for the beloved brands in our frozen meals portfolio.”
