Continental Mills Buys Dry Mix Manufacturing Plant

Continental Mills, Inc. has acquired a manufacturing facility located in Effingham, Ill., from Harlan Bakeries. The dry mix manufacturing facility was built by Krispy Kreme in 2001, and sold to Harlan Bakeries, a family-owned company, in 2008.

TUKWILA, Wash. (PRNewswire) — Continental Mills, Inc. has acquired a 190,000 Sq. Ft. manufacturing facility located in Effingham, Illinois from Harlan Bakeries, effective December 27, 2013. The dry mix manufacturing facility was built by Krispy Kreme in 2001, and sold to Harlan Bakeries, a family-owned company, in 2008. This facility can manufacture up to 225 million pounds of dry mixes, and increases the company's manufacturing footprint, which includes facilities in Kent, WA, Hopkinsville, KY and Manhattan, KS.

Continental Mills will continue to work in partnership with Harlan Bakeries to supply industrial bakery mixes to various Harlan customers.
