OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The former Seattle distribution center for the Liquor Control Board has been sold to a commercial real estate investment company for $23.4 million.
The sale to Panattoni Development Company, Inc. was finalized by the state Department of Enterprise Services on Aug. 9, but wasn't announced by state officials until Tuesday.
The 223,227 square-foot distribution center sits on nearly 11 acres near the Port of Seattle. The state had tightly controlled the distribution and sale of liquor since the end of Prohibition in the 1930s, until voters approved an initiative in 2011 to privatize liquor sales, leading the state to sell off its inventory of alcohol last year and seek a bidder for the distribution center.
