Albemarle Aquires Laser Chemical Company

Since then, Albemarle has introduced four products used in manufacturing components for LED bulbs and compound semiconductors.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Albemarle Corp. has acquired Cambridge Chemical Co. Ltd., a British company that produces high-purity metal organic chemicals for lasers. The Advocate reports terms of the deal were not disclosed. Albemarle, of Baton Rouge, plans to continue producing specialty chemicals at Cambridge Chemical's existing facilities in the United Kingdom.

The global business manager for Albemarle's electronic materials business, Jenny S. Hebert, said the acquisition allows the company to expand into the laser segment. The electronics material business was introduced in January 2012. Since then, Albemarle has introduced four products used in the process of manufacturing components for LED bulbs and compound semiconductors.
