POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- The Yuengling family is bringing back its line of ice cream next year after almost three decades.
But the ice cream is from a branch of the family separate from Yuengling brewery, so it won't have beer flavors — although one offering will be called Black and Tan.
David Yuengling, president of Yuengling's Ice Cream, said he decided to revive the brand started by his great-grandfather in the 1930s.
He said all of the ice cream will be made in Pennsylvania with all-natural ingredients. It will be sold in stores from Pittsburgh to New Jersey and from Scranton to northern Virginia.
The Pottsville-based family opened the Yuengling Dairy in 1920 during Prohibition as a way to compensate for the loss of beer sales. The ice cream operation closed in 1985.
