President Obama is in Hawaii today. On Tuesday, he departs for Australia (arriving on Wednesday) for a two-day stay, which includes a speech to the Australian parliament. From Australia, the President goes to Indonesia for the East Asia Summit.

Funding for the government runs out on Friday, so the House and Senate must pass another continuing resolution. A short-term measure running through mid-December will likely be included in H.R. 2112 (FY 2012 appropriations legislation for the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Transportation and Housing and Urban Development).

The Senate gavels in this afternoon and will take up H.R. 2354, energy and water appropriations legislation.

The House also convenes this afternoon and will vote on some non-controversial measures to name post offices and a courthouse. During the remainder of the week, the House will vote on the Senate-passed 3 percent withholding bill (H.R. 674) and a balanced budget amendment (H.J. Res. 2). See the full agenda at the Majority Leader’s calendar.
