Qualcomm Announces Proof of Delivery Handheld Application

– April 17, 2011 – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation and logistics companies, today announced the Proof of Delivery handheld application, which leverages Intermec’s CN50 rugged mobile computer. Ideal for private fleets, dedicated logistics operations and specialized carriers, Proof of Delivery will help fleets operate more efficiently and reduce costs by allowing the driver to automate work assignments performed outside of the vehicle, such as barcode scanning, exception management and signature capture. Proof of Delivery is scheduled to be commercially available in summer 2011.

By extending wireless connectivity outside the vehicle, Proof of Delivery will help fleets improve “time to invoice” through near real-time delivery notification, as well as eliminate paperwork and reduce costs associated with customer and freight settlement. The mobile application will deliver critical delivery information to fleets, including delivery timing, change of custody status and damage reporting claims. This information will help fleets ensure more accurate invoicing and exception management.

“We are pleased to introduce this handheld application for the transportation and logistics industry, which will serve as a complement to the applications we deliver through our Mobile Computing Platforms,” said Norm Ellis, vice president of sales, services and marketing for Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “By collaborating with Blue Dot, an industry leader in mobile workforce management solutions, we will ensure that our Proof of Delivery application delivers maximum value.”

Proof of Delivery is being developed in collaboration with Blue Dot Solutions, a recognized leader in mobile workforce management. Qualcomm is leveraging their best-in-class mobile platform and mobility infrastructure expertise to deliver enterprise services and work management applications via ruggedized mobile computing devices.

The Proof of Delivery mobile application will support Qualcomm’s Mobile Computing Platforms customers using satellite, terrestrial or Wi-Fi connectivity, in addition to ruggedized hardware with integrated modems. Built using the Advanced Mobile Platform by Blue Dot, Proof of Delivery is designed for scalability and flexibility, and also includes integrated application management, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)/Cloud integration, administration portal and unconstrained customization through professional services.
