Victory in Vegas?

After a big win in Phoenix, Jeff Gordon raced the familiar No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet at this weekend's race.

Victory in Vegas?

Jeff Gordon and Alan GustafsonA week after securing a long-awaited win in Phoenix, Ariz., Jeff Gordon had another opportunity for redemption – this time in Sin City.

The Phoenix win on Feb. 27 was Jeff’s first with new crew chief Alan Gustafson.  It also marked his 83rd victory and moved him into a tie with Cale Yarborough for fifth in all-time career wins. Another win would move Jeff up another notch into a tie with racing greats Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip.

"I hope we don't have to wait as long to tie Darrell and Bobby as it took us to tie Cale," Jeff joked prior to Sunday’s race in reference to his 66-race winless streak. "Actually, I've already accomplished way more than I thought I ever would in NASCAR.

DuPont SUVA, an environmentally friendly refrigerant used in air conditioning and refrigeration applications, appeared on the back of the car. "It's not about where I rank on a list or who I might be compared to,” he said. “It's about the desire to win, though, and that desire remains strong in me and in this team."

Jeff has had one win (2001) and six top-fives at the Las Vegas, Nev., track.  How did he do Sunday?
