Qualcomm Congratulates Truckload Carriers Association’s 35th Annual National Fleet Safety Award Finalists and 2011 Best Fleets To Drive For

– March 13, 2011 – Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation and logistics companies, today congratulates the Truckload Carriers Association’s 35th Annual National Fleet Safety Award finalists and the TCA’s 2011 Best Fleets to Driver For. Both awards will be presented at the Truckload Carriers Association annual conference in San Diego, Calif., March 13-16, 2011.

The 35th Annual National Fleet Safety Awards recognize trucking companies that demonstrate a superior commitment to safety and accident reduction. Of the 18 transportation companies recognized, 11 — or 55 percent — use Qualcomm mobile information solutions to help support their safety initiatives. Qualcomm customers that are finalists in the National Fleet Safety Awards are: Convoy Systems, L.L.C.; D&D Sexton Inc.; Gordon Trucking Inc.; Kennesaw Transportation; Roehl Transport, Inc.; Stagecoach Cartage & Dist. LP; and Sunrise Express Inc. Bison Transport Inc., Brian Kurtz Trucking Ltd. and Groupe Robert Inc., who are clients of Shaw Tracking, the exclusive reseller of Qualcomm mobile information solutions for the transportation and logistics industry in Canada, also were recognized. Several of these Qualcomm fleet customers have received previous recognition by the TCA for their outstanding safety performance.

TCA’s 2011 Best Fleets to Driver For is a survey and contest that identifies the North American for-hire trucking companies that provide the best workplace experiences for their drivers. Twelve of the 20 fleets — or 60 percent — use Qualcomm applications and in-cab platforms to help optimize operations. The following Qualcomm customers in the U.S. are being recognized for this aware: Best Cartage; Boyd Bros. Transportation, Inc.; Con-Way Truckload; Fremont Contract Carriers; Kennesaw Transportation; Schneider National; Motor Carrier Service, Inc.; and Trimac Transportation. Canadian fleets using Qualcomm technology that are also being recognized for their outstanding driver work environment include Bison Transport, Brian Kurtz Trucking, Erb Group, and Yanke Group. Both Boyd Bros. and Fremont also have received previous recognition for this award.

“With safety and compliance among the top issues facing commercial fleets today, it is extremely appropriate to recognize those carriers that have demonstrated both their commitment to and success in delivering outstanding safety results,” said Norm Ellis, vice president of sales, services and marketing for Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “It also is an honor to work with companies that are noteworthy for their outstanding results in creating a positive professional environment for their drivers. We congratulate all the fleets being honored and are proud that so many of them have adopted Qualcomm mobile fleet management technology as a key component of their operations.”
