A Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman says a four-alarm blaze at the former Sunny Jim peanut butter plant in south Seattle was an accident.

Spokeswoman Dana Vander Howen said Thursday that Monday's fire was caused by a camp stove that came in contact with combustible material on the building's first floor.

The fire at the vacant, city-owned, two-story building drew more than 100 firefighters. It sent smoke high into the air, helping cause a miles-long evening commute backup on southbound Interstate 5. One firefighter broke an ankle when a piece of siding fell on him.

Fire officials have estimated the damage at $150,000 for items inside the building. Vander Howen says the building was not valued since it was due to be demolished.
