Construction has officially begun on a polymers manufacturing plant in Iberville Parish.
SNF Holding Co. says it is spending $350 million in a five-phase construction project. The first unit at the plant is expected to begin production by late 2011.
The company says that when the plant is finished, it will have about 500 jobs and employ 100 permanent contractor employees. Plans call for 250 construction workers.
The plant will operate under the name Flopam Inc.
