State Agriculture Commissioner Gus Douglass says eggs that are part of a multistate recall have been found in West Virginia.
Douglass said Thursday the state was informed earlier this week that the eggs had not been shipped to West Virginia. On Wednesday, agency inspectors started reporting that eggs subject to the recall had been found in grocery stores in Cabell and Putnam counties. He says the stores are in Milton and Huntington.
More than 550 million eggs from two Iowa farms were recalled this month after being linked to as many as 1,300 cases of salmonella poisoning.
Investigators have found salmonella in chicken feed that was sold to both Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms.
Douglass says the West Virginia eggs were from Hillandale Farms.
