Pratt & Whitney Buys Stake In Turbine Company

Jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney said it bought Japan Airlines' stake in their joint venture repair facility, Japan Turbine Technologies.

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Jet engine maker Pratt & Whitney said Thursday it bought Japan Airlines' stake in their joint venture repair facility, Japan Turbine Technologies.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pratt & Whitney and Japan Airlines had operated the turbine facility near Tokyo since 2000. The airline held a 33.4 percent stake. With the deal, Japan Turbine is wholly owned by Pratt & Whitney.

Pratt & Whitney is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Shares of United Technologies rose 99 cents to close at $88.21.
