Workers Injured At Intel Plant

Authorities say seven employees have been injured after a substance ignited in a chemical-storage room at Intel's plant in Chandler, Ariz.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say seven employees have been injured after a substance ignited in a chemical-storage room at Intel's plant in Chandler.

Chandler Fire Department officials say the injured have been taken to city hospitals, but most of the injuries appear to be minor.

Fire officials say the fire was contained in one room at the computer chip company's Ocotillo campus.

The building was evacuated after the incident, which occurred about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Chandler fire crews have a hazardous materials team at the scene. They say it's still unclear what the substance was and how it ignited.
