Goodrich Closing Landing Gear Plant

Goodrich Corp. says it will close its aircraft landing gear plant in Cleveland by the end of next year, eliminating about 400 jobs.

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Goodrich Corp. says it will close its aircraft landing-gear plant in Cleveland by the end of next year, eliminating about 400 jobs.

Goodrich announced the pending shutdown Wednesday. The Charlotte, N.C.-based company blames a lack of new work that could make the plant cost-efficient.

Current production will be moved to other plants.

The Cleveland operation makes landing-gear equipment for commercial and military aircraft.
