Dow Oil and Gas Introduces New ELEVATE™ CO2 EOR Conformance Solution To Increase Oil Production from Existing Assets
Dow Oil & Gas, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company and its consolidated subsidiaries, announces the introduction of ELEVATEâ?¢ CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery Conformance Solution at the 2010 Society of Petroleum Engineers' Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (SPE ATCE) in Florence, Italy. The first product in the new ELEVATE line for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) from Dow Oil & Gas, this solution is designed to increase oil production at existing wells using an innovative new technique to increase conformance. This solution builds on Dow Oil & Gas' existing portfolio of oilfield solutions, including offerings for drilling and completions, stimulation, cementing and production operations.Â
Declining output from mature fields and the high cost associated with new discoveries has driven operators to demand more from existing reservoirs. ELEVATE CO2 EOR Conformance Solution from Dow Oil & Gas is designed to help producers reach and recover more oil from existing wells, while simultaneously reducing operating expenditures.
The ELEVATE CO2 EOR Conformance Solution successfully addresses shortcomings associated with existing miscible gas EOR processes by using "foams"1 of supercritical CO2 fluid and water in the formation to alter mobility and improve vertical conformance. Ultimately, the process can improve the profitability of existing wells by enhancing reservoir sweep, significantly and cost-effectively reducing CO2 cycling, and lowering the gas-to-oil ratio.
