A longtime state park employee has been killed in an early morning house fire in central Kentucky.

The blaze broke out at a home in Harrodsburg before dawn Monday. Authorities have not released the name, but the woman's nephew told the Lexington Herald-Leader that 71-year-old Mary Rose Harley died in the fire.

Brent Steele says he was notified of his aunt's death early Monday morning. He says he last spoke to her Sunday night, and says "she was fine."

Harley was a guide who conducted tours at Old Fort Harrod State Park in Harrodsburg.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but Kentucky State Police are investigating along with the Harrodsburg Fire Department.
