A Peace Corps volunteer from Arizona has died while in service to her nation.

A news release from the Peace Corps office in Washington says 26-year-old Stephanie Chance of Phoenix died Thursday of what appears to be natural causes. She was discovered in her home in Zinder, Niger (nee-ZHEHR').

Chance arrived in Africa in July. Her duties included helping local officials better coordinate government services and collaborative planning.

Before entering the Peace Corps, Chance was an experienced certified public accountant.

She earned a B.S. in business administration and an M.A. in accounting from the University of Arizona.

Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams says Chance's death is "terribly painful for the entire Peace Corps family."
