Authorities say a Producers Rice Mill employee was found buried in rice inside a flat storage facility in Stuttgart.

The Stuttgart Daily Leader reports that when firefighters arrived at the mill about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, workers were trying to dig 41-year-old Monique A. Harper out of the grain.

Police say Harper was transported to a Stuttgart hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6:28 a.m.

According to a police report, other Producers employees tried to contact Harper over a radio and after no reply, they began to look for her.

Producers Rice Mill president and CEO Keith Glover says officials are trying to determine why she was there.

Glover says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the accident.
