Federal authorities have begun investigating a flash fire that killed one worker and injured another at a central Kansas business.

The fire Wednesday at Woodwork Manufacturing in Hutchinson killed 46-year-old Kevin Lewis of Burrton.

The Hutchinson News reports that the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration has begun an investigation the accident. Brian Drake, OSHA's acting area director in the agency's Wichita office, said a compliance officer was in Hutchinson gathering information about the accident.

Fire officials said Lewis was standing on a platform near a sawdust collector when the sawdust burst into flame. Another man was burned on his hands while trying to help Lewis.

The company makes wood molding and doors.
