Hasbro Seeks Tax Breaks To Add Jobs

Toy maker Hasbro Inc., which wants to bring up to 300 new jobs to Rhode Island, is seeking a state tax break for companies that expand or relocate in the state.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Toy maker Hasbro Inc., which wants to bring up to 300 new jobs to Rhode Island, is seeking a state tax break for companies that expand or relocate in the state.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. board is set to consider Hasbro's application Monday.

The Providence Journal reports that the jobs would be located in Providence and not at the company's Pawtucket headquarters.

Hasbro employs 1,400 people in Rhode Island.

The company has applied for a state tax break that offers sales tax exemptions on purchases related to corporate expansions and relocations.
