Explosions In Turkey Kill 17

Rescue workers recovered five more bodies at two separate explosion sites in an industrial district of the Turkish capital, bringing the death toll to at least 17.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Rescue workers say they have recovered five more bodies at two separate explosion sites in an industrial district of the Turkish capital, bringing the death toll to at least 17.

Authorities say Friday they are investigating the cause of the blasts which shook the same area of Ankara hours apart on Thursday. A possible malfunctioning of an oxygen tank is believed to have caused the first blast which partly collapsed two stories of a factory. Rescue workers pulled out another body from the rubble there, bringing the death toll to seven.

The second blast sparked a huge blaze that engulfed several workshops and raged throughout the night. Rescue officials recovered four more bodies at the site, increasing the number of fatalities there to 10.
