Harley Gets Tax Incentives From Wisconsin

Wisconsin is giving Harley-Davidson $25 million in tax credits to preserve jobs at its plants in the Milwaukee area and Tomahawk.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state is giving Harley-Davidson Inc. $25 million in tax credits to preserve jobs at its plants in the Milwaukee area and Tomahawk.

The Department of Commerce said Friday the tax credits, over nine years, are linked to jobs and capital investments by Harley and purchases from in-state suppliers.

The incentives follow votes by Harley workers this week in favor of a seven-year labor agreement that includes concessions the union says were painful.

Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac received $70 million in tax credits last year in exchange for keeping jobs in Wisconsin.
