NEW YORK (AP) -- Navigation device maker Garmin Ltd. has bought MetriGear Inc., a Silicon Valley startup that specializes in making equipment that helps bicyclists improve their pedaling performance.
Financial terms of the deal announced Tuesday weren't disclosed.
Garmin, based in Switzerland, recently has been expanding its line of cycling computers that include the company's Global Positioning System technology.
MetriGear, based in Santa Clara, Calif., will become part of Garmin's outdoor/fitness division, which increased its revenue 30 percent to $245 million during the first half of this year.
