EnPro Buys Hydrodyne

Manufacturing company said Wednesday it purchased Hydrodyne, a maker of high-performance seals used by space, aerospace and nuclear industries.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- EnPro Industries Inc. said Wednesday that it has purchased Hydrodyne, a maker of high-performance seals used by the space, aerospace and nuclear industries.

The deal was paid for with cash. Further terms were not disclosed.

"This is the latest in a recent series of acquisitions that are building a stronger position for our high-performance seals group in highly attractive and specialized sealing markets," President and CEO Steve Macadam said in a statement.

Hydrodyne, based in Burbank, Calif., will become a part of EnPro's sealing products division. EnPro is based in Charlotte, N.C.

Shares of EnPro, which makes diesel engines and other industrial machines, dropped 38 cents to $30.58 in afternoon trading.
