PICKENS, S.C. (AP) -- A safety equipment manufacturer plans to put a plant in South Carolina that will employ 45 people.

Multiple media outlets reported that Allegro Industries plans to spend nearly $4.5 million on a plant in Pickens.

Allegro makes industrial safety products, including respirators, respirator accessories and ventilator products. The plant will handle manufacturing, design, and research and development.

Pickens County Council approved two incentive packages Monday evening, including land and a fee instead of property taxes on the operation.

The plant should be open by the middle of 2011.
