BRANTFORD, Ont. (CP) -- A forklift manufacturer in Brantford, Ont., has told its workers the facility will be closing its doors.
Raymond Industrial Equipment told the 350 workers the plant equipment will be moved over the next four to five months to its headquarters in Greene, N.Y.
The company says severance will be issued to the workers on Sept. 28, the day they were due to return from a one-week shutdown.
The company started out as a family-owned business in 1922 and makes pallet jacks, lift trucks and narrow-aisle forklifts.
The Brantford operation opened in 1966 and at its peak employed 575 people.
