BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- General Electric is laying off 164 workers at a southern Indiana refrigerator factory, although that is about 30 fewer than the company had anticipated.
Layoff notices were handed out Monday at the Bloomington factory, which will be left with some 530 workers.
Company officials announced plans last year to close the factory. The company reversed that decision in July, saying government incentives for making energy-efficient appliances there could be extended until 2013.
