CLAYCOMO, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon says Missouri needs to provide more job training and economic incentives to attract the next generation of automotive jobs.
Nixon unveiled findings Wednesday from his Automotive Jobs Task Force, created to recommend ways Missouri could become more competitive for auto manufacturers.
He said the panel recommended ensuring the state could provide skilled workers and top-notch facilities for companies looking to build electric vehicles or gas-electric hybrid vehicles.
The downturn of the U.S. automotive industry has cost thousands of Missourians their jobs at plants in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.
Nixon spoke at Ford Motor Co.'s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo.
