Texas Door Manufacturer To Buy Missouri Plant

Polymer-Wood Technologies will begin production at a Missouri plant next fall and expects to employ between 400 and 500 workers.

LAMAR, Mo. (AP) -- A door manufacturer has been given permission to buy the former O'Sullivan Industries plant in Lamar.

Under an agreement announced Wednesday, the building will be leased to Polymer-Wood Technologies of Dallas, which makes residential and commercial fire-rated doors at a lower cost using new technologies.

The Joplin Globe reports that production at the plant could begin next fall. Company officials say until then, they will spend more than $20 million on production equipment and another $3 million to rehabilitate the Lamar property.

O'Sullivan closed the plant in 2007, putting more than 700 people out of work.

Polymer-Wood officials say it will employ 100 workers at first, with a goal of employing between 400 and 500 workers.
