Glaxo: 25,000 Advair Inhalers Stolen From Plant

British pharmaceutical company says two lots of its blockbuster asthma medication Advair Diskus were stolen from its facility near Richmond, Va., earlier this month.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (AP) -- GlaxoSmithKline says two lots of its blockbuster asthma medication Advair Diskus were stolen from its facilities earlier this month, and could pose a risk to patients.

The British pharmaceutical company is warning patients not to use any of the more than 25,000 inhalers contained in the shipments, which were stolen August 2 from a company facility near Richmond, Va.

The lot numbers are:

-- Lot 9ZP2255 - NDC 0173-0696-00, Advair Diskus 250/50, 60 Dose

-- Lot 9ZP3325 - NDC 0173-0697-00, Advair Diskus 500/50, 60 Dose

Glaxo says the drugs were supposed to be shipped to pharmacies at the time of the theft. Glaxo says they could pose a safety risk because the inhalers may have been stored improperly.

Advair is the British drugmaker's best-selling prescription drug.
