Unilever Recalls Soup Mix

Consumer-products maker said Friday it is recalling a type of kosher soup mix because of a potential allergic reaction with consumers.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Consumer-products maker Unilever said Friday it is recalling a type of kosher soup mix because of a potential allergic reaction with consumers.

The company is recalling Knorr Kosher Soup Mix - Chicken Vegetable Flavor with Pasta imported from Israel because it contains undeclared egg. No other Knorr products are affected and there have been been no reported cases of illness.

"Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product," the company said. "The situation has been investigated and corrected."

The product is packed in a 2.18-ounce pouch. It was made in Israel by Unilever Bestfoods Israel Ltd. and imported and distributed by a third party.

Consumers who have the specific Knorr Kosher Soup Mix should discard it and call 877-270-7412.

Shares of the Dutch company rose 19 cents to $24.46 in morning trading.
