GARNER, N.C. (AP) -- Federal investigators are planning to enter a sprawling Slim Jim snack plant in North Carolina and look for a cause of the explosion that killed three workers and injured scores of others.
A spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Friday that investigators are interested in the center of the damaged building in Garner. Structural engineers were able to get safely inside the ConAgra Foods Inc. building through the less-damaged back side Thursday.
Spokesman Earl Woodham also said that despite reports that employees smelled propane gas, it isn't a focus. He says there is a propane system in the plant but it isn't the "main culprit."
