Knauf To Lay Off 100 At Indiana Insulation Plant

Insulation manufacturer plans to lay off up to 100 workers in June for at least six months from a central Indiana factory.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- An insulation manufacturer plans to lay off up to 100 workers for at least six months from a central Indiana factory.

Officials of Knauf (KA'-nof) Insulation said in a state filing that the company expects to lay off the workers from the Shelbyville factory in June. A company executive blamed the slowdown in building projects during the recession for the job cuts.

The German-based company makes thermal and acoustical fiberglass insulation for residential, commercial and industrial building applications. Its two plants in Shelbyville employ about 500 workers.
